Mariya Soshinskaya is a former finance professional turned sustainability advisor, yoga teacher, serial entrepreneur and strategist, advocate for workplace wellness, and leadership coach. Mariya left her career in Corporate Finance in search for more purpose and meaning, which took her to the Netherlands to get a Masters in Sustainable Development & Innovation where she co-founded a sustainable transportation Foundation and became a certified yoga teacher to help her manage stress and anxiety.

As she launched her career in impact investing with the Dutch Development Bank, she also founded and grew a workplace yoga and mindfulness program to a community of over one hundred employees. Yet after nearly 6 years in Development Banking focused on green and inclusive business growth, she witnessed countless burnouts of passionate colleagues and leaders, and nearly burnt out herself twice.

THROUGH THIS JOURNEY, SHE REALIZED 3 THINGS:

1.

Passionate professionals and leaders who haven’t invested in their self-awareness and personal growth are highly susceptible to chronic fatigue and burnout, which decreases their quality of life, negatively impacts organizational performance, and limits their positive impact. Effective team and organizational leadership starts with self-leadership.

2.

The power of mindfulness techniques, meditation, and breathwork to build self-awareness, manage stress, increase emotional resilience, and improve focus to prevent burning out and improve performance in a constantly changing and high pressure environment.

3.

As a business, it is too easy to impact-wash. Climate change and inequality won’t be solved by large multi-nationals incrementally improving their social and environmental footprints. These larger global issues need massive game-changing innovation today, which small and medium-sized impact-focused organizations are more agile and capable of doing, yet often don’t have the strategy and resources to grow.

From these realizations, Mariya left Development Banking and Mindful Venture was born, combining mindful personal development and growth  with world-centric business strategy.  Mariya is dedicated to the growth, resilience, and success of impact-focused professionals and businesses who will push humanity forward to meet the UN Sustainable Development Goals.
