Why work with Mariya

Mariya has two Degrees in Finance and Sustainable Development and over a decade of experience working in Corporate, Non-profit, Bank, and entrepreneurial settings. She’s spent the last 7 years focusing on business and impact growth in developing countries, and specifically the East African region.


She successfully supported the Dutch Development Bank to roll out its strategy to double the number of people reached and half the footprint of its portfolio by 2020 by setting up policies, targets, systems, and trainings for staff. Focus themes included Climate Smart Business, Water, Renewable Energy, Circular Economy, and Inclusive Social Empowerment across Agribusiness, Manufacturing, Energy, and Financial Institution sectors. In 2018, FMO invested €711 million in Green projects and €579 million in Inclusive projects, outperforming its annual sustainability targets.


Currently, Mariya advises individuals and businesses in the field of leadership development, business strategy, and impact interventions. With her diverse background she is able to take complex ideas and create simple solutions and actions to get seemingly impossible results.
